Recently it’s been announced that celery has got anti-inflammatory benefits.Celery has got many more health benefits. But right now I am interested in anti-inflammatory benefit and calorie control. I do not like the smell of celery. But when I tried celery in my smoothie ,it was not that smelly.
Next I am using watercress ,which reduces the calories dramatically. Watercress drops the risk of obesity, diabetics, and heart disease. Amazing to know that watercress has got anti cancer benefits.
Avocado is loaded with fiber , antioxidant, it can lower the cholesterol as well, it may reduce the weight and many more advantages to eat avocado.
Pomegranates again loaded with antioxidants reduce the heart disease, and cancer. They are anti-inflammatory. They are so powerful that pomegranate juice has been found to have three times the antioxidant activity of red wine and green tea. It might help fight prostate cancer.
Another ingredient is golden flaxseeds which also known as linseed. The reason behind I am using flaxseeds is the risk of endometrial and ovarian cancer. I have been suffering from Endometriosis for last 11 years. This golden flaxseeds could be golden medicine for me. Not only that, it balance the hormones and reduce the risks of breast, prostate, ovarian and colon cancer. It is full in omega-3 fatty acid.
Kiwi fruits are excellent for skin because they have more vitamin C than oranges. Consuming 2 kiwis a day may reduce the risk for blood cloths and lower the fats in your body.
Vitamin B6 contain banana reduce swelling, protect evolving type-2 diabetes, weight loss, protect nervous system.
I am using dry roasted cumin seeds , it helps digestions.
No artificial colour was added in this recipe.
One kiwi, one avocado, one celery stick, hand full of watercress, one banana, two full table-spoon of golden flaxseeds ( you may use black flaxseeds). If you are not on diet you can also add some honey. I have used one cup of home-made chilled vegetable stock. You can use soya milk or any low-fat milk.
Blend them all .Now mix the pomegranate and dry roast cumin powder , but don’t grind pomegranate .If you grind pomegranate , sometimes seeds of pomegranate doesn’t grind properly, so when you are drinking smoothie you will get the bits of pomegranate seeds.
To make the roasted cumin powder:
In medium heat dry roast one table spoon of cumin. After five minutes of roasting it will releasing the cumin flavour .Cool down the temperature then hand grind them or crush them ,do not need fine powder.
As you can see in the picture, I have decorated the smoothie with some pomegranate at the bottom of the glass and some on top, a small piece of avocado, sprinkled some flaxseeds and some dry roasted crushed cumin on top.
